Re: My printer has gotten an attitude.

What type of Z probe are you using: FSRs under the bed, or something else?

How many factors did you ask the auto calibration to adjust?

Re: M109 and G29

The "feel" is unlikely to be any different using 24V, except for movement speeds at which 12V is inadequate. See http://reprapfirmware.org to calculate those speeds. However, at 24V the stepper motors may be either quieter or noisier when idle than they are at 12V. Which may depend on how old you are!

Re: M109 and G29

The motor current you need to get a certain resolution is independent of the supply voltage. The advantage of using a higher voltage (e.g. 24V instead of 12V) is that the stepper drivers can maintain the requested current up to higher speeds.

Re: My printer has gotten an attitude.

You can use any slicer you like, if you export the GCode to file and then upload it to the Duet using the web interface. Some slicers (e.g. slic3r and Cura) have the facility to upload to a Duet themselves after slicing.

Re: Issues with artifacts and over extrusion

If you think you are getting ver extrusion, just use the web interface to reduce the extrusion a little. I find that every roll of filament has a different ideal extrusion factor, and it isn't only due to differences in filament diameter. I think you might also benefit from using either more retract...

Re: Slowing down to debug

I favour 1.75mm filament and extruders with about 3:1 gearing. I've always used 1.8deg motors to drive them, not the 0.9deg motors that E3D suggests for the Titan; however it looks like with 12V power and 0.9deg motors, around 50mm/sec should be achieveable, which is probably sufficient. I blogged a...

Re: Duet and 24v psu question

Bear in mind that a 24V PSU will produce four times the heating power of a 12V PSU. So if you do want to use a 24V PSU then I suggest you turn down the voltage on it as low as possible, which will probably be about 20V. Alternatively, use a 12V PSU turned up to its maximum - typically about 14V, whi...

Re: Slowing down to debug

It doesn't help that the motor in your Titan is 0.9deg, whereas a 1.8deg motor is adequate for a geared extruder. You might like to plug your figures into the motor speed/voltage calculator at http://reprapfirmware.org/.

Re: Firmware for Older 0.8.5 boards

I presume you mean 1.18.2, not 1.8.2. The latest version available is 1.21RC3. I have two reports that using 1.20 or 1.21RC3, older Duets (0.6 and 0.8.5) may fail to start up if you have the IP address set to all zeros so that it uses DHCP and you have the Ethernet cable connected. Unfortunately I a...

Re: Motor Currents?

The Duet can only change the peak stepper motor current in 100mA increments. The firmware is designed so that if you ask for a multiple of 100mA, you get what you asked for. Other values will be rounded up or down. So when trying different stepper motor currents, I suggest you choose multiples of 10...

Re: 32 bit RAMBo

For FSRs, use the JohnSL interface board, connect it to the Z probe connector, and use the Smart Effector setting in the configurator which has similar characteristics. Test it and calibrate the trigger height as described at m. The configurator is meant to help newcomers to the Duet and only covers...

That pattern of ridges and valleys along the X axis suggest backlash in joints or carriages, making the nozzle height above the bed depend on which direction you approach the XY point from.

Re: Updating webcontrol issue

I think your HTML and JS files may have got out of step, because using DWC 1.19 you should have been able to upgrade to 1.20 without getting that message. Sometimes it is necessary to clear the browser cache before you pick up the new versions of the DWC files. The latest DWC warns you if the versio...

Re: Duet WiFi with E3V6 dragging on plate

PS you have no M208 command in config.g so movement below where the firmware thinks Z=0 will not be allowed. As you are experimenting with negative trigger heights, you may need to allow small amounts of negative Z movement. For example, M208 S1 Z-1 would allow movement down to -1mm.

Re: Duet WiFi with E3V6 dragging on plate

I suggest you remove the G31 command from bed.g because it will override the value in config.g. Also setting the XY offset to zero hasn't been correct for many firmware versions.

Re: Updating webcontrol issue

When upgrading firmware from 1.18 or earlier to 1.19 or later on the Duet WiFi, we recommend you move the SD card to a PC, delete the old /www folder, create a new one, and unzip the new DuetWebControl.zip to it. After that you will be able to upgrade it in DWC next time.

What do you have in your bed.g file?

If you vary the G31 Z parameter, you should see the live M665 H parameter change accordingly after calibration. Does it?

Either there is a bad crimp connection in the motor cable, or the stepper driver chip is faulty.
