Re: Rambo FSR's

Thanks geneb. I don't think most realize it, but equal belt tension impacts dimensional accuracy of the printer as well. Belt stretch ever so slightly impacts the resultant steps/mm. On large x-y prints where you are using a large amount of the tower travel, the steps/mm error accumulates and dimens...

Re: Rambo FSR's

When it comes to matching belt sensitivity, this is what I do.... Rig up a "heavy" weight of some sort that won't ding/bang up your towers. I'm using something around the 2-3 lb range. Home your machine, and set the z-height about mid point. Leave power applied to the motors. Put a dial in...

Re: Bondtech QR extruder, jammed

I've had one jam with mine and there was an inclusion in the material much like geneb suggested. Hindsight, I'm glad it jammed and did not make it to my hotend.

216 / 217 size o-ring will work also. I use an ultra-flow durometer silicone material. The buna's and viton's would be too stiff.

Yes... Spool Holder Bracket.stl / step. Just checked and they are there.

Here's a remix of ccavanaugh's electronics enclosure front plate for those of us running a smoothie without an LCD screen. It has a 19mm front hole to fit standard car LED switches as well as the power switch that came with the RM2. http://i.imgur.com/4LYJ4W6.jpg NOGLCD Front Cover.stl Very nice!

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Good to know! Also, is there a reason that the FSR brackets are in 3 separate files? I can't tell any difference between them, but I don't want to assume. Lol I guess it doesn't really matter. Thanks again! The three versions prevent over constraint and allows for dimensional error and thermal expa...

Re: Auto-calibration options using FSRs?

Ccavanaugh - good question. No jumper. My FSR kit didn't come with any documentation - had to figure it out from whatever I could find online - I think there was something in these forums. Jumpers were mentioned, but didn't appear applicable to me at the time. So no, they're default is open, I beli...

Re: Auto-calibration options using FSRs?

I installed FSRs on my Max v2 some time ago with the intention of using RollyRowland's OpenDACT auto-calibration software. Though the FSRs all trigger correctly and I was able to implement commands on the printer via the software, The FSRs' signal never had an effect ad the nozzle would always cras...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

Excellent! Thank you! One more question, if I could. I noticed there are the limit switch brackets and also the "Top Vertex" STLs -- are those two versions of the same thing? And if so, do you recommend the Limit Switch stl over the "Top Vertex"? I noticed that "Limit Switc...

Which is why I don't use Slic3r. I found all sorts of odd inexplicable paths in my gcode. This one takes the cake though! slic3r is really weird. But I think I can make its weird work for me, as long as I carefully inspect every bit of the toolpaths. There are some things that slic3r is really grea...

I ordered these http://www.ultibots.com/nema-17-0-9-degree-stepper-motor/ along with the Astrosyn dampers and they are virtually quiet with the Duet controller. Each motor was individually packaged and well protected. The loudest component of the build is the Bondtech extruder which is still quiet.

Re: A debut of my new Yellow Jacket build.

No... to seal in the anodizing world is to close down the porous structure. It would take a chemical strip and anodizing process at that point. A good shop can strip, and then I would do with a Type III hard anodize over the Type II they came with. Much harder, slicker, and thickness can be increase...

16 Tooth drive gears will not fit without grinding the belts. You need to stick with the 20 tooth gears unless you take a different approach for the belt path. Everything else looks great.

It's been said before but I must say it again - A Fantastic Printer! On the cross pieces, did you have to use a special primer before painting them yellow? According to everything I read on the internet - no. But this is one of those times I wish I had followed my gut. Supposedly aluminum that is a...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

I just noticed you mounted your pcb heated with the nylon spacers between the Onyx and the snowflake. I'm a bit curious as to why. I plug the center hole in the snowflake and run the wiring out the back instead of thru the hole. This keeps direct drafts from the power supply off the bed and improve...

I was just wonder what would be the best, and most cost-efficient, way to make a Max Metal frame black -- or if it's even feasible without spending a ton. I know it's really not ultimately important, but if I'm going to rebuild my Rostock I'd like to make it as nice to look at as I can in the proce...

I decided to pull the trigger on my Max metal build. Question on the t-nuts. Do the ones that came with the rostock max v2 work with the max metal? Also according to the assembly manual the nuts are supposed to be 1/4-20 threads so uh isn't this the "right" roll-in t-nuts if we wanted to ...

Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

A bracket for the JohnSL FSR board is now available in the Git repository. The rear plate has been updated with the mounting holes. If you've already printed the rear plate, some adhesive or PSA will work well to stick the bracket in place to avoid reprint or drilling. The board should snap in place...

Good eye! It's a LRS-350-12. Super quiet relative to the clone I currently have, and much slimmer than what most people have been using. Comparing against the older thicker model, specs are almost identical, but rated MTB was higher for an extra $0.75 in cost. For the cost of a soda, it was well wo...
