Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

I've left filament parked in a cold hot end for months at a time with no ill effects. Then again, I don't print ABS at all. If retracting works for you, run with it. :)

Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

Definitely maybe. ;)

I don't know to be honest. Is your v1 of such a vintage that it's got the enormous geared Steve's Extruder?

Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

You'd have to contact Ultimaker about the G02/03 moves, but if it doesn't, I wouldn't call that an issue. You can fuse for a couple of amps higher than the Duet is fused for, I suppose. You'll continue to use the same drive gears with the 0.9 steppers. Printing with ABS is basically 3d printing on ...

Re: Rostock max 3.0 to 3.3 conversion

The performance improvement due to moving to a 32 bit controller is significant. The precise auto calibration is nearly witchcraft. :) You can use a color LCD touch screen with the v3.2 upgrade, but you really don't need to if you can connect to it via browser. I wouldn't ever recommend printing via...

Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

The jump from the v1 to the v3.2+ is pretty dramatic. Instead of mag ball arms, I'd suggest going with the injection molded carriage set and the ball & cup arms. Same performance and you don't have to worry about the arms falling off. :) The carriages are plug & play - no adjustments to make them ri...

Re: Error compiling for board RAMBo

The issue isn't compiler capability, it's one of code generation. The firmware consumes nearly all the memory resources on the RAMBo. There was some change made in post 1.6.0 compilers that causes the resulting binary to randomly crash.

Try reseating the cabling between the lcd and the adapter, as well as the adapter itself.

Re: V2 (mid 2016) to V3.2 (current) upgrade?

The springs are cheap, I wouldn't worry about them as SeeMeCNC can bury you in replacements. ;)

If you don't want to fight the wiring down the inside of one of the towers, you can always run them on the outside using a dowel as a "trellis" like I did with Orange Menace.

Re: V2 (mid 2016) to V3.2 (current) upgrade?

This https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1614045 will allow you to mount that 7" LCD to the base of your v2. There's no real reason to move the Duet up top since you can do the display install in the bottom. Here's an adapter to fit the Duet inside the v2 base: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:292772...

I would reconfigure your limit switches as normally closed. That will prevent electrical interference from generating false triggers.

Forum maintenance update...

The update is effectively done (no thanks to GoDaddy) and the search feature should hopefully work now. The last thing that needs to be done (I think) is the logo badge to replace the default "phpBB" banner that's on the upper left corner of the page. There's a pile of dark themes now available, so ...

Part of the upgrade is disabling all the non-stock forum styles. The dark theme will be re-enabled once the upgrade is done. ;)
