Re: Onshape beta, free online version of Solidworks

I used it about 2.26 minutes. I created very fast a shape, without really controling what I was doing in term of measurments, but the interface looks very intuitive to me. However, I could not find an export option... Maybe that is only the free version, maybe I was not able to spot it out... but if...

Re: Experimental gcode auto Z compensation ready to test...

I had a quick look into the python script. I don't believe you would split the movement in several commands if it appears that the gcode goes a long straight line over several Z height measurments. That could be a future improvement. Other than that, I am not fluent enough in Python to read it like ...

Re: Experimental gcode auto Z compensation ready to test...

Neat stuff and well above my level. Is effector tilt possible to measure? For example if the towers are square to the bed, but tilted to the left or right? It could be possible to measure with 3 sensors on the platform, but how do you intend to correct it anyway ? To me, a tilt means towers are not...

Re: Experimental gcode auto Z compensation ready to test...

Hey Mhackney, I'm glad you took it further than I did. I kind of gave up on that because I thought that whilst the height of the build raises, the mapping may change. To me, if you need to interpolate at Z=0 in X and Y directions, you may have to interpolate also the geometry change at different val...

[SOLVED] Nema 14 extruder won't print

Hello ev1, Here is my puzzle of the week end. I installed a Nema 14 to drive my flexible filament extruder. It does work beautifully when I try it out with the repetier host commands : The filament feeds normally when I hit the arrows in repetier host. But it will not turn for even one step when run...

Re: What is the best filament for high temp applications?

Yeah, the best is probably to try it yourself.

If you have specific requirements for the loads it is supposed to stand on, boil some water and try it up? I would probably try until it breaks, to see what is the limit you can reach.

And then, if you could give your feedback here, that would be great.

In order to download from Github, if you don't want to set up a git checkout on your computer, I think you can only download the zip file of the entire folder.... not just one file.

Re: E3D has released new hotends!

Cyclops has a very different body - it routes 2 filaments into a single nozzle - so you can't put it on a Kraken body. My Cyclops prototype is on its way, I hope to get it this week. From the pictures, it does not look so different. What I call the body is the cooling part. The 2 filaments just pas...

Re: E3D has released new hotends!

2 questions, in case someone knows... (maybe someone from E3D has the answers ?) 1/ Did anyone try to use the cyclop on a kraken body ? 2/ The Volcano is said to be kraken compatible, but are 4 volcanoes needed, or one can do, in order to print with 4 heads ? What would you guys think of a kraken bo...

Re: Rostock max v2 en france

Salut Cédric, J'ai la V1 depuis 1 an environ.

Re: Rostock V1 vs EF2 TORNADO!!!

I guess the best would be to buy a "wood only" kit, along with new arms, and towers. If you want to make sure you order only one time and have everything ready for rebuilding, read the manual, and everytime there is a reference to a part that is not wood, make sure you have it, and it is n...

Smart ABS - feedback

I recently bought some Smart ABS from Orbi-Tech. It is advertised as being some kind of revolutionary ABS, with low warpage, and high layer adhesion, with lower delamination than regular ABS. I print it at 220°C, just as I do with ABS. It actually warps much less than regular ABS, but still much mor...

Thanks for the info.

The fact of not trying to plug onto the Rambo probably makes things easier, and eventually better routed than my solution.

I'll try to give it a closer look someday.

I can say, now, in about a year of printing with my modified E3D and Kraken nozzles that I've had absolutely NO ISSUES with over 1000s of prints from small high detailed to large 12+ hour prints. I've received 100s - literally - of emails and PM from folks who have done the mod and had positive res...

I am considering doing something similar, but instead of rubber bands, did you try doing it using just counterweights ?

If you need some elasticity, maybe the counterweights could be attached using a spring ?

Does it make sense ?

Re: RAMBo Motor Driver Heatsink Upgrade

It used to freeze on long prints. I read somewhere on the net it was from the drivers overheating. I installed heatsinks, nad try to keep the printer door open while printing... since that, hours, days, weeks, months of printing without a single freeze. You may be right that it could be from the pro...

Re: Direct drive / EZStruder with small nozzle diameters

I personally use .25 nozzle on my kraken, with EZstrudder, and often print at 0.1 mm layer height. I have had issues in the begining, but then, following another thread on this forum, I ran a drill in the nozzle in order to lower its exit channel length. I reduced it's length as much as I could with...

I'll keep my heatsinks on the top, as they are already there, and satisfactory until now... My board did not freeze anytime since I have them installed.

But well, that is good to know.
