Re: Problems with hotend

My HE280 clogged repeatedly out of the box. The issue was the PTFE tubing not fully seated. I could never get the PTFE fully seated after disassembly and chamfering the PTFE tube, it was never a reliable fix. I'm just going to switch to an e3d v6. Having the PTFE tubing go all the way down to the he...

Re: Rostock Max v3 upgrading to e3d v6 hot end?

You can do it, yep. I'll be converting mine tonight. Basically, you just need to mount the accel board somewhere else, and wire up your new hotend to the old one's connections. https://www.facebook.com/themakerhive/photos/a.1398946247050049.1073741827.1393459320932075/1791356761142327/?type=3&p...

Re: Rostock Max v3 upgrading to e3d v6 hot end?

xenocrates - thanks for the tip. I contacted Matt. Have you used the bondtech QR extruder? I am also looking for more reliability on the cold side. I have had good experiences with the Titan extruder, but mHackney's post about the QR got me interested in that setup. I would love a second opinion. I ...

Re: Rostock Max v3 upgrading to e3d v6 hot end?

I was just thinking about the same thing! My HE280 seems to have an issue and a replacement is coming, but it has left me with little faith for that hotend. I've never had a problem with an e3d hot end. I looked at Trick Laser's site, they have an aluminun effector (back ordered), groove mount piece...

Re: P003A HE280 [Solved?] Auto Leveling Issue/Bed Leveling Issue/Calibration

Hey y'all. I haven't been on this forum since the MAx V1! It's nice to see familiar voices still solving problems. I was impressed by the probe and I needed to dedicate a machine to a 3-4 month project so I picked up the V3 because meet the project demands. My bed leveling issue are exactly the same...

Re: VIKI SD card reader with X3 Pro?

mHackney,

I have the same setup. X3 Pro v1.11 and Viki 1.0 LCD. Using the onboard SD card slot works fine, bu it is not accessible. Can not get the SD card to mount when plugged into the Viki. Did you find a solution?

Re: Knocking prints to the floor

I was going to add that I am running off the SD card. It has happened on different prints at different heights. I don't think it's an adhesion problem because I haven't seen any curling or lifting yet. But I will run the last print again and watch it, see if it happens the same way twice. I guess I ...

Knocking prints to the floor

So on 3 occasions, always while I have stepped out, my rostock loses position and then knocks the print out the build platform. I can see evidence of the side of nozzle hitting and meting the plastic near the top edge. I am running slow speeds 30 mm/s print/infill 150 mm/sec travel. No evidence of w...

Cambo3d how are your ball joint arms working out? I saw trick laser has some nice ones for sale, but I haven't seen a lot feedback on that type of replacement. Do you think they will wear well and stay precise?

Re: anti warping disc

I have been using abs juice and I haven't had anything curl. I also use a brim. Every geometry is different, but it's been working for all my vase forms so far. It's difficult to keep. The rubber seal in mason jar I am using is deteriorating fast. Maybe a small metal paint can would be better. I pre...

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

There is new Marlin firmware that now supports the lcd. Thanks johnoly99! https://github.com/johnoly99 My bot shipped with the helpful lcd adapter kit so the original instructions didn't apply and after lengthy changes to the firmware all I got was white boxes. With the new marlin firmware use ardui...

pgonhell

So i am back to marlin firmware and the f'ing lcd is working too! I want to just see if I can finally finish setup/calibration of this thing, before switching firmware, again. When I load your firmware back and compare settings I will let you know.

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

So to test that it was indeed a mechanical issue - I tested the same movements with Marlin firmware loaded. Those movements were fine. So it's no mechanical. huh.

It happens when I move in X direction as well. so it's not just one axis.

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

Just to make sure I downloaded the firmware again and uploaded it.
Restarted and the symptom still occurs.
The only changes I have made are through the eeprom. I have metal 15 tooth pulleys not the newer 20 tooth and I have my steps at 106.67 which should be correct.

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

BTW movement by hand seems normal - though that judgement is only based off this one machine. No odd mechanical sounds when moving normally - until i approach the build perimeter and then it does it's stuck - thud into place thing and I get that error.

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

So I went to Z50 after homing.
When I then move to Y50 I get a change in Z height of -6.22mm.
What sort of mechanical issues would cause that? Friction in arms or maybe belt tension? Any ideas?

I appreciate all the help. Thanks in advance.

Re: Movement distances are so off! HELP!

So I homed then went to Z50. Then I enter G01 X0 Y90 Z50 F500 and machine moves towards the tower and it's going well until it looks like the Z tower gets stuck and the other two axis keep going and push the carriage with a snap and thud. The resulting move is lower in Z and repetier gives me this e...

Movement distances are so off! HELP!

So I am trying to calibrate. I bought my kit with lcd kit so I am using polygonhell's Repetier firmware. After reading the forums a bit I changed the EEPROM mm per steps to 106.67 for each axis and 584 for the extruder. My Z height is 368 mm and movement in Z seems to correct. However things get wei...

Hello from Vermont

I am just getting the software setup and calibration on my newly built rostock MAX. It's been fun and challenging so far. Looking forward to melting some plastic!
This forum is amazing, I would have a half finished half broken machine without it.

Thanks already, and thanks in advance.

Re: RAMBo to SmartController Adapter 1.0a

I think I found my answers, unless someone suggests otherwise. 1) I will keep EEPROM enabled and make changes from the EEPROM menu in Repetier. 2) Such as changing the steps per mm for 16 micro stepping as mhackney described in another post. Do I also need to change the configuration file lines such...
