Re: 1st Layer issue

A lot of questions come to mind. Your third layer actually shouldn't stick. The first layer is the most important, but once you add even the small space of a few layers, adhesion is already lost. What temp, what filament, how are you leveling the bed, how much filament is oozing. Does using a series...

Re: Rostock Max v2 Jamming

Have you tried mhackney's filament profiling? It was very eye opening for me. You'll find it in his A Strategy for Successful (and Great) Prints. So I was experiencing consistent jams until I rebuilt and re-profiled my PLA filaments. I now print consistently and with good results at 185C. The only s...

Re: Done buying Hatchbox

I'm just going to chime in to support the OP. I do switch spools pretty frequently. However, the SeeMeCNC spools had never knotted and jammed a print on me. I bought several spools of Hatchbox and started hearing a weird noise (I remember it even on the first print. Thinking something had damaged th...

Re: rostock V2 upgrade possible?

As was pointed out, there is a v3 frame kit to move the parts around a bit. But I guess it depends on what you want to accomplish. While the frame of the v3 looks more refined, it doesn't sound like you're having any issues with the frame. I've done a number of mods to my v2. The Duet with FSRs is a...

Re: Rostock Max v2 Jamming

I was having horrible problems with my E3D v6 jamming with PLA. I did isolate it to a heat creep problem. I lowered my temp a lot and it helped quite a bit. Then I disassembled and replaced the thermal paste with some stuff I had around. I intentionally wanted a bunch of squeeze out which was messy....

Re: Chuckle - now I think about holddowns.

Thanks! But of course the problem is that there is no clearance for binder clips. I'll need to design something cool like the v3 has. Of course I need to hold the plate on while I print. Maybe some tape as a temporary holder. Bet my trigger point changes for the fsr between tape and an actual firm h...

Chuckle - now I think about holddowns.

OK - so I got the new mhackney snowflake replacement for FSRs, and I have it installed on my v2. I'm looking for a way to secure my heat spreader and glass build plate.

Any have a favorite glass build plate clamp they care to share?

+1 for 713maker effector platform. Have it anodized to your liking. Get cool mount at the same time. :-) I have nothing to do with them, just love the effector.

Printing Speeds

Hi all, I've recently completed a mini overhaul of my RMv2 and am quite pleased with the changes. I have a question regarding print speeds. I print slow. Pretty much all the time. 25 mm/s ish. Once you have the design dialed in (including supports), the filament dialed in, cooling, and the printer d...

Re: Aero Mount

Hi guys, I decided to put my mount out for anyone to copy/examine/use/whatever. Its my first design, and I don't have much time on it, but it appears to be working fine. Did I mention its my first design? I don't claim its good, but it does work so someone might find it useful. If I change it signif...

Re: Thermocouple Upgrade

Just wanted to close this one out. Thanks to all that helped. I converted to a PT100 with the Duet interface board from Filastruder. I ran 4 wires to the sensor, and I routed the wires through heatshrink (unheated) tubing external to the expandable nylon loom/sleeve. I figure it creates a little dis...

Re: Thermocouple Upgrade

I purchased the Think3dPrint3d pt100 daughterboard, but I need to create a wire harness for my Duet 0.8.5. The Duet's expansion header is well documented. I'm having trouble locating information on pinout of the daughterboard so I know which pins carry which signals. Anybody have a reference, diagra...

Re: Aero Mount

Thank you so much for the input guys. I took the opportunity to dig into Fusion 360 a lot more. I've had some fun designing my own mount. But in seeing the pictures of Michael's. I realize just how much of a newbie I am. I'm printing beta #5 as I type (only betas 3 and 5 made it to the printer.) Tha...

Re: Aero Mount

New question. How important is it for the nozzle to be dead-nuts center of the effector platform? More specifically, I do know I can set an offset, but how important is that to be absolutely perfect. The problem is that I've design v0.1 of a mount for the aero. I've used the engineering drawings to ...

Re: BerdAir comeing soon From Yellow Jacket Concepts

In the research I did when I was doing custom rewiring on my hotend, I think it has to do with how the Duet switches things on/off versus how the eSwitch is wired in. Essentially the input from the Duet becomes a control circuit. Because some of that control circuit is common with the motor wiring, ...

Re: BerdAir comeing soon From Yellow Jacket Concepts

This is so cool. You motivated me to solve the same behavior. I think if your slicer supports an ending script to turn off the hotend and bed, an M107 command should automatically turn the fan off as part of the process. Man... I've been bugged by that but never motivated enough to fix it. But there...

Re: Aero Mount

Ok, so I've started messing around with trying to design the mount and I've come up with a few questions. 1 - When adding that much weight to the effector, does it matter in a practical sense whether it is above or below the effector. Since the weight is at the end of an arm, it seems like placing i...

Re: Extruder Stepper Issue

I'm always very careful about how fast I turn the motors manually since it is my understanding that the induced voltage could damage the stepper motor driver. That goes for how fast I move the tower carriages as well as ensure I do not "zip" the filament out. I've never actually taken my m...

Aero Mount

Does anyone know of an Aero mount for the v2 that would either attach to the effector or replace it? I don't need cooling ducts, as I'd prefer to use my BERD Air anyway. I'm fine with either top or underslung mount. The only one I'm finding is very nicely designed, but includes the ducting for fans ...

Re: LCD Shows blue but no bars on first power up.

LCD contrast is indeed the issue with the display. (Double check of the wiring is always wise too.) However, it took me a while to realize I had the problem because the adjustment knob had fallen off in transit. I tried adjusting it, but just to give SeeMeCNC a shout out, I contacted them about the ...

Re: E3D V6 jamming

Do you have any way to measure the actual hotend temperature to compare it to the reported temp? How much variation in temperature are you seeing as you print. And what temp are you printing at (it worked so well for so long I'm not thinking its a problem, just curious.) Does the top of the heatsink...

Thank you! Thats a great writeup on something I was doing manually. I was literally recording each of the 12 other trigger points by hand. I'm on Duet with FSRs. Tedious procedure. Excel spreadsheets full of numbers. These techniques look much more precise. (I also am going to use cigarette paper, w...

I'm just going off the reported deviation. I usually run the callibration 3 times to see where I'm at. Perhaps there is a better way?
