Re: mhackney's Real V3 Build Thread

Those mounts look great! Now I need to go buy a lasercutter ;-)

Also - clever drawers! I only have a V2 but those are neat.

Re: Duet 0.8 tplink 702n config problems

I have a similar setup - Duet 0.85 with TPLink 802n. - Log in to your TPLink admin console (at your TPLink's IP address) - Change your Operation Mode to "Client" - Make sure under "Wireless" > "Wireless settings" your router's name and MAC address are correct (for some ...

New mounts?! Do tell! I am using your previous system and it's served me well but always looking for more upgrades, especially now that I'm up and running again. :-)

Re: Z height unstable w/ Duet/FSR setup

For posterity's sake I am posting here the final resolution to the problem: After tearing my hair out and not knowing what to do, coupled with a severe lack of time due to other responsibilities like twin boys, I finally figured it out! My Z-axis pulley had slipped ever so slightly and was catching ...

I don't have much to add here other than my condolences. His warm welcomes to everyone (myself included) and continued presence, support, and encouragement were a constantly pleasant feature of reading through these forums. My condolences to his family and friends.

Hi Gene!

Thanks - I have the newer ball joint arms - bought the printer in January of this year.

Z height unstable w/ Duet/FSR setup

After many months of happily printing, it appears my printer has developed an issue that no longer allows it to print properly - basically, my first layer is very uneven. My setup: ⋅ Rostock Max V2 ⋅ Stock hotend ⋅ Duet 0.85 ⋅ Ultibots FSR kit w/ mhackney's FS...

My new dino pet

The Thingiverse T-Rex at 220% on the Rostock Max V2. I can't quite convince my wife to let me display it in the house but the boys love it:

Now if only I could borrow the PartDaddy for a little while... ;)

Re: Rostock Max V2 ultra level frustrations

Sounds frustrating. The two times I've had problems with skipped steps were the following issues: (1) Loose grub screws - you mention tightening the motor screws but not sure if you meant the mounting screws or the pulley (grub) screws - if you haven't done those give it a try, and verify that they'...

Couple of references:

https://twitter.com/josefprusa/status/7 ... 3002813440

So, yes it is more abrasive. The E3D has a hardened nozzle option but don't think there is one for the stock Seemecnc hot end. Would be nice tho.

Re: Embedded Raspberry Pi for Rostock Max V2

Gene - thanks for the post - I think I may have threaded through the center hole. :-P Luckily haven't noticed too much in the way of artifact. This does explain why that plug posted a while ago didn't have a spot for the wires that are now running next to it in my printer while it sorta sits in ther...

Re: M2D2 Build

1 - We cannot get Octoprint to recognize the octopi-network.txt file during bootup. I could never get it to work via octopi-network.txt either. Ultimately I just logged into the RPi with a keyboard and monitor and messed around with the /etc/network/interfaces file until I got it to work. There's a...

Re: Duet setup - instructions in progress

I just installed the FSRs using mhackney's excellent mounts. The Rostock MAX V2 screws were just a little too long so they protruded past the plunger, making the included silicone pads unworkable. I didn't have any rubber washers or shorter screws lying around BUUUT I do have 3D printers and some Ni...

Re: Duet setup - instructions in progress

I'm not sure what arguments and/or permissions that shell script might need. The instructions I've been using to flash mine came from the RepRapPro site, where they call bossac directly, the Mac command being: /Applications/Arduino.app/Contents/Resources/Java/hardware/tools/bossac -e -w -v -b RepRa...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

And now the moment we've all been waiting for (or at least I have)... Duet installed, calibrated, and... Drum roll... IMG_0161.jpg Same GCODE file. No question - the banding is entirely due to the delta segmentation. I can die happy now. This is a MAX V2 with stock EZ Struder, stock hotend with 0.35...

Re: Need Alternative to Elmer's Glue Sticks [SOLVED]

I ordered the 0.04" sheet, if it works out I'll probably go with the 1/16" in sheets for both printers. I wonder if I could get away with just clipping them to the build plate instead of using adhesive? PEI is great and you will love it, but you will probably have to tape it. When I got m...

Re: Question about changing how support material works

Hi, nr - Couple of things to try: - First, are you sure you need support? Some small structures can get away without support. - If not, can you redesign the part to avoid using support? E.g., if you are doing circular bars, can you do rectangular bars that won't need support instead? (not sure if th...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

If you plan on doing it anyway, do it first without switching the motors and pulleys. You'll know pretty well right away if it disappears, and if it does, you'll be the guy who brings this data point to light! Win win! Haha - great point! Now if only they could get some Duets back in stock. I've pu...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

I haven't done a conversion of a Rostock max, so I can't say for sure, but my gut tells me yes. It can also be helped by going to 16 tooth pulleys and 0.9d steppers. I suppose that's my question - if the dc42 firmware on the Duet doesn't segment, will I _ALSO_ have to go to the 16 tooth pulleys and...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

FWIW, here are my pictures of the thing I was printing under different conditions (an iphone holder). I was slicing in MatterControl and Simplify3D. The banding gets tighter and more pronounced as you go higher, likely because the print slowed down as the layers got smaller. I also did a print on my...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

I am experiencing similar vertical banding on my prints, which seems to be directly dependent on the segmentation in Repetier (Changing the parameter DELTA_SEGMENTS_PER_SECOND directly changes the frequency of the pattern - I'll post some pics). I am curious if upgrading to the Duet with the dc42 fi...

Re: Article on layer cooling..

The stock nozzle for the v2 is a "sharp nozzle" duct. Yes - and FWIW, it works GREAT! I guess I am just wondering "how LOOOOOW can you GOOOO ?!?" - i.e., there's got to be some lower limit to how narrow it can be, and now I wish I had infinite time to print a whole series to tes...

Re: Another NOOB

I recently built my Rostock MAX v2 so here are my two cents: I’m a little confused by the Raspberry PI and Mattercontrol Touch options. I do need to untether from my computer, as I’ll need to use it and/or take it to work without stopping a print. Do I need both – or does the OctoPI option accomplis...
