Re: Trick Laser MAX METAL Build

This seems to be the repository for the Metal Max kit, so with many thanks to Brian for posting his files earlier, I will add these for those who wish to use them as they may. I'm planning on machining it out of aluminum as I work in a CNC machine shop. hey ZakRabbit are you selling them also? How ...

Re: Why is my extruder making weird calliope noises?

G90/G91 are from industrial CNC machines, which don't exactly have extruders. So they affect all the axis's. But the Extruder isn't exactly an axis. Nor is it a co-ordinate system. The closest I can think of is spindle speed. It's a tooling parameter, rather than a machine parameter really. So ther...

At what speed do you have the macros running? Both rapid and feed can cause missed steps as you approach horizontal on any given arm as I understand it.

Have you looked at CRAMPS instead of the Replicape? Any thoughts between the two?

A stepper motor that has .9 deg/step vs the "stock" 1.8 deg/step will have more steps/mm which may help minimize the banding.

It honestly didn't occur to me to install it this way until I had the adapter cut. I meant no disrespect at all.

Fly'NStrude with Geared Stepper Motor

Here are a couple pieces I'm going to try out with my metal max frame. I was planning on using Brian's Fly 'N Strude, but the fact that I chose a geared stepper kinda makes that a no-go. It's a two-piece design, with an adapter and top plate. The adapter raises the top plate 2.5mm (.100") above...

Re: Poll: Which 3D printer controller do you use, or plan to

It might be naive of me, but it seems to me that the BBB will enable us to upgrade the firmware (BBB itself) and hardware (capes and in some instances the step drivers themselves) independently. While more complex for initial setup, it is more flexible in the long run.

Re: Smoothieboard capacitors falling off, can't contact merc

The CRAMPS cape has provisions for 6 modular steppers, and from what I understand, there are Beaglebone specific releases of Debian/embedded Machinekit. I believe Octoprint is the interface used, I'm not sure if that's what mhackney was referring to with the non-integrated projects. https://designma...

626Pilot, I wonder if you reached out to Arthur Wolf over at Robotseed if they could help you. I know you've put a TON of work into this and have been a huge proponent of Smoothie (it was yo...

I keep coming back to the Beaglebone, but I can't seem to find anything current as far as projects/users talking about them. I'm super newb to this, so maybe I'm looking in all the wrong places.

It looks as if there's no actual rudder, is that just because it's printed in the clear, or is that because it's designed for what I've known as "U-Controll?"
