Re: Best dual extrusion set up for soluble support?

Hi All, I posted this a while ago and haven't had the chance to follow up. I have read some about the Prometheus upgrade as I have an E3D v6. Does anyone know of any better options that have come out since this post? I actually have the time to upgrade now. I am printing complex student prints on my...

Re: best laser cutter under 5000?

It's been a while since I've posted as funds for the laser cutter are not distributed until July 1. Now I have another laser cutter to consider.. I have just been given another grant for around 17,000 to buy a 36x24 or larger laser cutter. That said, I have researched extensively and have narrowed i...

Best dual extrusion set up for soluble support?

Hi All, I have a Max v2 with new carriages, E3D v6, and an aluminum mount. I've had the machine for about 2 years and 3 months and it still prints beautifully!I've resisted upgrading to the the HE280 since I don't have problems with leveling. However, I am really in need of dual extrusion to print s...

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

Update since the original post: I ended up going with the Xcarve 1000mm. The X axis extrusion is upgraded and has required no reinforcement. I did the 30 minute X axis stiffening mod (angle iron) and I am loving this machine! The machine was cutting fine without the mod... but for 30 minutes and some...

Re: best laser cutter under 5000?

Thanks Xenocrates, I just looked at the 4,995 version and I think I'm going to go with that one. I can't seem to find a better deal for that size anywhere. I looked at Boss lasers but they are way out of my price range. Thanks for the help!

Thanks Xenocrates,
What is the maximum thickness you've been able to cut on the 90w machine? Also, how are you venting your machine?

best laser cutter under 5000?

Hello All, Looking for advice on a laser cutter and have 5000.00 to spend, could go a bit over with shipping. I am willing to consider a Chinese machine if the support is good, and/or I can easily replace items when and if they break. Looking for the largest I can get in this price range. I am also ...

Re: corner issue on calibration cube

Hello All, I have solved the issue with the corner. Hopefully this will be of help to someone. I initially thought that it may be a hot end clog or loose hot end so I worked through the entire hot end with no change.. After days of tinkering, I decided to check belt tightness and found that the belt...

corner issue on calibration cube

Hello All, I recently relocated my printer to the place I teach and I am now having a small issue. I have spent the past few days tracking down filament starvation issues that were not there before I moved the printer. I have slowed my print speed down to 25mms for everything and "reseasoned&qu...

I had that happen a few times when using ABS juice. I have been using it now for over a year with PEI and have had no problems.

Re: Is PEI that good?

Yes it's that good! I've only had it for about 6 months or so and the hairspray and purple glue days are a distant memory. I used to have to clean my acrylic enclosure weekly because of the spray residue. I actually upgraded to it because I pulled up glass with ABS juice. The piece of PEI is so rigi...

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

I'm on the zone, got started with CNC 10 years before 3D printing. I've built multiple routers, 3 mills and 2 lathe conversions. You can find me in the Benchtop machine forum (same name). My advice would be to build your own. You could build a nice machine with more capability than the premades and...

Re: Shapeoko or X Carve

Thanks for the input! I'm still a bit torn.. I really like what the Shapeoko offers but I'm wondering why it doesn't come with a probe? Having worked on a larger machine, this is the only way I've ever found Z-zero. How do you do this with no probe?

Shapeoko or X Carve

I'm wondering if the community has a bit of input regarding the these two machines. I will have 1500.00 to spend and could spend up to 1800.00. I'm currently looking at the Shapeoko 3 new version and the new X carve version.. Or if others have any suggestions beyond these two machines, that would ce...

Re: Parts have started lifting

ABS juice will hold ABS most of the time but it sticks so well that sometimes you will pull up shards of glass. I just upgraded to PEI and haven't had an A B S print come up yet with the bed set at 90-95. I really wish I had not waited to upgrade, it was worth every penny! The room with my printer n...

I'm interested in seeing how this works out if you get it. I'm in the market for one in that price range or a bit above and I'd really like to hear some firsthand feedback on this machine.

I agree, PEI is amazing ! I am a late adopter, just upgraded last week with the same sheet from Amazon . Having great results with Abs at 90 degrees. I had been ripping up pieces of glass with Abs juice and couldn't do it any longer. I actually installed the PEI on my chipped up bed and it's working...

I've got one in a build that I didn't let out of the bag yet. http://i.imgur.com/jS6xAhp.jpg Well, the ethernet version of the same thing, anyway. In hindsight, I wish I used one for the USB as well. Just blow 3 or 4 identical holes in the plate, and populate whatever you decide is best later. The ...

Link for USB keystone adapter

Looking for a link to a USB keystone adapter. I remember reading a build thread on here a few months or more, the build included a pass thru for the USB. The build thread included a link to Amazon for this but I can't seem to track this down with the "search" option. Any help is appreciate...
