Re: V2 (mid 2016) to V3.2 (current) upgrade?

This https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1614045 will allow you to mount that 7" LCD to the base of your v2. There's no real reason to move the Duet up top since you can do the display install in the bottom. Here's an adapter to fit the Duet inside the v2 base: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:292772...

Re: Spindle Frequency?

I would reconfigure your limit switches as normally closed. That will prevent electrical interference from generating false triggers.

Forum maintenance update...

The update is effectively done (no thanks to GoDaddy) and the search feature should hopefully work now. The last thing that needs to be done (I think) is the logo badge to replace the default "phpBB" banner that's on the upper left corner of the page. There's a pile of dark themes now available, so ...

Part of the upgrade is disabling all the non-stock forum styles. The dark theme will be re-enabled once the upgrade is done. ;)

Re: Rostock MAX v3.2 reviews

This is not good!! I am kind of the opinion that a modern 3d printer should not need an enclose for ABS. ABS should be printable without an enclosure if your bed can hit 105-120C and reliably maintain that temp. Modern day printers should be able to do that. Physics disagrees with your opinion. Wit...

Captain Starfish wrote:@geneb - end of an era! Although, given how much room they take, if I had a 3 or 3.2 my old girl would be long gone either for parts or sold to help pay for the new one. Impressive you've kept yours together for so long given your alternatives.

Don't forget that when you go to a different input voltage, you'll need to re-do the pid tune on the hot end. :)

Re: Max V2 upgrade to HE280

Here's the HE280 upgrade instructions https://seemecnc.dozuki.com/Guide/Rosto ... 49?lang=en, these may help you decide what you want to do regarding the whip. Personally, I'd buy the whip because it's a damn sight easier than dealing with getting the shrink tube over the 8 pin connector. :D

Re: Rostock MAX v3.2 reviews

The PCB-style heater that the v3.2 uses may be able to hit 100C, but I've never personally tried anything higher than 90C. If your bed-heat need is driven by a requirement to print ABS, you should enclose the printer and that will help offset any problems associated with a lower bed temp. An enclosu...

Re: Anyone else still rocking the original Rostock Max?

I actually started the retirement process for Orange Menace on Wednesday. It had been updated to a Hotends.com j-head and a Duet Wifi. That controller is now destined for my v3 to make it a v3.2.

Re: Orion upgrade questions

If memory serves it's around 6.8 ohms as tested at the crimp points where the resistor leads are joined together. If you upgrade to the HE280 hot end, you'll get auto-calibration. The HE280 has a sensor on the board that allows the whole hot end to be used as a Z probe. You can see what that upgrade...

Re: Rostock MAX v3.2 reviews

The SE300 can hit at least 280C. The Jet liner isn't applicable to the SE300 - that's only needed for the HE280 hot end. The filament path in the SE300 is all metal, unlike the HE280, thus the liner requirement. Note that the HE280 hot end is not used with the Rostock MAX 3.2, it's only in the v3. I...

Re: Orion upgrade questions

If your Orion uses the older heating resistors (one on each "side" of the round heater block), there's no real gotchas with the firmware. However, if you have an Orion with the HE280 hot end that allows the Orion to auto-calibrate, you need to stick with the SeeMeCNC supplied firmware - th...

Re: Cura 3.6 preloaded Rostock profile

You can download the hotend-specific profiles from SeeMeCNC's git repository - there's Cura profiles for both the SE300 and HE280 hot ends. The 3.2 profile should work reasonably well as-is, but you'll need to make sure the travel speeds are under 250mm/sec if you only have a v3. (The RAMBo can't ha...
