Re: Need a Free SOLIDWORKS Trial?

In my library of CAM, I have SheetCAM, MeshCAM, and V-Carve. The CAM portion of Fusion360 really kicks it up several notches with the tool libraries, and the adaptive machining. Watching it rough out a pocket in aluminum, using a 1/4" endmill, with a depth of cut set at 1/4" is amazing. I did have m...

The CAM that's built into Fusion 360 works pretty well.

Re: Need a Free SOLIDWORKS Trial?

i use Solidworks at work, but I have my own subscription of Fusion 360. I can't see see spending $4,000.00 for solidworks, when I get way more out of Fusion 360 for only $310.00 a year.

Re: PEI print bed surface experiments

The 3M tape that came with my PEI works really well, although I did have it fail when I had it roughed up to much and printed to close with PLA. Nothing is fool proof.

Re: I'm back and wanting to upgrade

When using the Duet board, you would not need sound dampening,,,,, nor would you want to anyways since it would effect the print. You would set the Duet drivers to run in Interpolated mode, which makes them quieter. Also, I just checked, the Duet 2 will run G02 and G03 codes,,,, it would be up to th...

Did you check the current settings for the steppermotor in the firmware? I'm assuming you changed out the steppermotor also.

Err...what do you mean by sprockets? The little gears on the motors? I checked everything I could for tightness but that was just the jiggle-test. Using Matterhackers PLA. I can try 200 again. Your statement "When moving the effector around to feel for a snag I noticed something funny. My Y to...

Re: SE 300 Hot End Leaking (PLA)

Yes, when ever you remove or loosen the nozzle. The nozzle is supposed to be seated to the end of the heatbreak, with the aluminum heater block holding them together. Since aluminum expands more than the brass nozzle, and the stainless steel heat break, they become unseated when it gets to temperatu...

Re: SE 300 Hot End Leaking (PLA)

Out of curiosity, after you reinstalled the nozzle, you did preheat it to around 240, and retightened the nozzle before printing?

Check that the wiring harness is still securely seated in the connector on the hotend,,,,, assuming you "upgraded" to the 280 hotend.

Re: Fresh off the block

At the least it needs to be dried out,,,,, abs absorbs water. 4 to 6 hours in an oven set at 180 F would do wonders. For the initial setting up, calibrating, etc. I would buy a fresh spool.

Cura is the recommended slicer for Artemis, so we should probably have a thread for it. I have been using 3.4.1 - which is a bit later than the version mentioned in the Artemis docs. Today I got an automated notice that 3.5 is available - and an invitation to download it. Anyone try this yet, eithe...

Re: When (& how) to update firmware.

A good rule of thumb is, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Myself, in the beginning, I would update, just to update. Now? Only if I'm trying to solve a problem.

Re: HE280 Rev B Hotend issues

You state that the old hotend heater doesn not come on automatically,,,, Does it come on when the RamBo calls for heat?

When Mosfets fail, they normally fail "On", causing the heater to be on all the time.

Re: heat break stuck

warm the hotend to around 200 C, then re tighten the nozzle before you print.
the aluminum heat block expands more than the nozzle, and heat break, which causes the nozzle to loosen and leak.

I was going to post that that you need to tighten the power supply connections at the RamBo, but you say you've already done that.
