Re: This is where the road begins

Of course *after* I cut off all of the molex connectors it dawns on me that just installing molex mating connectors on the H1 wire leads would keep the PS modular. Adding banana jacks to a molex connector would give you great flexability without moding the PS. This would just make another area where...

Re: EMC2 Configuration for H1?

jcugnoni, Thank you. You beat me to it! Since posting my first post in exasperation, I made more headway but the daughter's graduation delayed my post. Nice job. I'll review your post in detail. Thanks!

Re: What to avoid

I guess I could always throw away all of the electronics components with the H1 and buy a whole new set of electronics for $370. I think I'll just add another $25 worth of arduino/thermister/LED/relay and call it good. :-)

Re: What to avoid

Maybe this is overkill but I am planning on building an Arduino-based backup temperature controller for the extruder. I plan to add another thermistor to the extruder and the arduino will drive a few 7 segment LED displays to show current temperature and a 'max cutoff temperature' where it will open...

Re: Hey everyone

Tom,
I'm using the Open source LinuxCNC and it is just a little harder since I'm a minority but I hope to blaze the trail and show how to use it with all the screen shots / etc. You may want to give it a try!

Best Wishes,

Z

ok, I give up. Anyone have an EMC2 configuration for the H1?
Thanks

Re: Using the Velleman MK138 with a heated print bed

I think this may be close to the velleman stock thermistor but I'm not positive: http://www.ussensor.com/rt%20charts/PS103G2.htm

It is a NTC 10k0 but I'm not positive about the 'G' vs. 'J' temperature profile curves. I don't have the exact velleman thermistor part number... any else have it?

Re: Hello from Iowa

The only thing I made so far is a little video on my extruder posted here: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=561 Apparently I did not fully seat the bearing in the gear and this resulted in the gear faces touching which caused them to bind a little. The engineer in me wants to know ...

Re: Complete Printrboard Tutorial [Setup/Software]

Extrude3D, Thank you for the reply. Now I see the USB port! Hard to identify it from the top view On the other part about the speeds of the processor, etc., I'm talking about the device that implements the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) that drives the stepper motors. When stepper motors are 'stepped'...

Re: Schematic for Velleman MK138 Temperature Controller Boar

I attempted to make it clear in my two posts. In my opinion, Never short R5. If you do and then you set the pot to its max setting, the thermistor runs wide open, so I would never short R5. If you use the thermistor I identified in my previous post, then use the R5 and R6 values from the chart I pos...

Re: Complete Printrboard Tutorial [Setup/Software]

Extrude3D, Thank you for the printrboard tutorial. I'm using the stock H-1 driver board which requires a PC parallel port interface and I'm using the LinuxCNC (formally known as EMC2) to drive it. The Printrboard looks very nice and I like the small form factor. Does it require a separate computer t...

Re: Schematic for Velleman MK138 Temperature Controller Boar

If my understanding of the Velleman MK138 was correct, then check out this chart I created which identifies the R5 and R6 values you need to achieve a desired MIN/MAX temperature settings (only valid for the Spectrum Control's GC1396V-3-200 thermistor). (The only real checking I did was to compare t...

Re: Schematic for Velleman MK138 Temperature Controller Boar

In an attempt to help clear up what resistors to change and how they impact the velleman MK138 controller, I offer this writeup.

Please let me know if I misinterpreted anything.

Thanks,

Re: JT's H-1 build log and mods

JT. I'm no expert but in my case I set the velleman on its lowest setting and waited a few minutes for the relay to cycle off. I had a borrowed hand held IR temperature sensor but didn't trust its results as I couldn't get consistent readings from thinkgs like hot incandescent light bulbs, etc. Mayb...

Any drafts of the Operations Manual I've seen reference to? I haven't printed anything yet as I'm trying to get Slicer and EMC2 settings and thought a good Getting Started/Operations manual would help me greatly. :-) Thanks in advance.

Re: Q: about Velleman

I replaced my resistor as well and it begins heating the second I turn on the 12 volt power. Having the lowest value being room temperature would be wasteful of your pot range and control accuracy. A perfect minimum setting would be just a little too cold for all plastics you want to use. I added a ...

Extruder Motor Skipping

I was having trouble with my extruder motor skipping when I tightened the bolts and when I loosened the bolts, the motor would stop skipping but the filiment rollers would skip. Is it the easydriver current limitation? Do I need to increase its current? Is it the voltage drop over the small long mot...

Re: extruder randomly clicks like its stuck

I am concerned about my EasyDriver as well. Had the same issues with the clicking during testing with no filiment in the extruder. I noted that I could easily stall the motor with my fingers. I reduced the tension and it improved and I added the filiment and it seemed to pull into the machine (but I...

I noted that in the Draft 1-1 version, page 16 indicates that Pin 17 is the STEP and Pin 16 is the DIRECTION pin (and I wired mine up this way) however the upper left hand corner of the H1 Basic Electrical Schematic (drawing number 25925, Rev 1.2) included on page 26 shows the opposite configuration...

Hello from Iowa

My H1 is nearly ready for first squirt. I'm planning on going open source as much as possible so I'll be trying out LinuxCNC. I also took a few short videos of what went wrong with my assembly process which I hope to arrange and offer to others as a "Assemble H1 by (bad) Example." Nice to ...
