Re: Slicer Tests on the Rostock MAX V3

What hot end does the Eris have? In general, you should just not grab a profile for a particular printer and use it on another. The hot end geometry is one of the key things that affects retract settings. And if you don't get retract settings reasonably right, you can get all sorts of jamming and o...

Thank you for the slicing profile! I'm going to give it a go on my Eris.

Re: Raspberry Pi 3 Mount for Eris

Auto-leveling seems to work OK. I tend to run it after every print since I am removing the build platform and it doesn't get put back into the exact same orientation every time. Pretty easy if you are using Mattercontrol or Octoprint.

Raspberry Pi 3 Mount for Eris

I thought I'd throw this snap-on bracket out there for the group in case anyone is wanting to run their Eris with OctoPrint:

http://repables.com/r/787/

Mount your Pi to it and snap it on the back tower and you're good-to-go. Photos: https://goo.gl/photos/sGec9TcXQrDWDMfT7

Thank you to Oly for the original mount!

Re: ERIS Early adopter feedback

After noticing a dead air space between the liner and the heatsink, I perforated the heat sink to allow some airflow through to keep the liner cool. It probably wouldn't need as much as I did. Not sure how you did that. Can you elaborate? Also: has anyone found a way to increase the air flow across...

After performing several +8 hr prints, I would concur. I had instances of thermal creep on the hotend which ended up jamming the filament at about the 6 hr mark.

Make sure whatever container you choose doesn't block UV. Polycarbonate will block UV up to about 405-410nm.

I decided to investigate the free sample. Here is the response email: Dear Shane, We are glad to hear from you . Which country are you in ? Creation Workshop went closed source May 31

Steve posted on May 31 that he's removed the source from Github:

http://www.buildyourownsla.com/forum/vi ... f=5&t=3066

He will still post Creation Workshop builds for free but the source will not be provided any longer.

Re: Makerjuice G+

Post curing certainly won't hurt it, and you can either buy a dedicated UV fingernail curing box (LED or CF; doesn't matter really) or just stick the parts out in the sun as both will do the same thing. Washing the parts really well in fresh isopropanol really will take care of the bulk of the uncur...

Re: BETA testers discussion

RainEx won't work. Pretty much PDMS for what you're doing will be the least painful. m or m Mix 10:1 according to instructions. You don't need more than 10mL mixed per petri. Pour it in, let it de-gas until all the bubbles are gone, and then you can bake it on your printer's HBP @ 90°C for 1-2 hrs. ...

Re: BETA testers discussion

I assume after you touch off on the resin you set Z=0 and then you are ready to go? You don't zero to the surface of the resin. You zero to the surface of the PDMS. Creation Workshop doesn't require you to set zero via gcode. It just starts running where your build platform is placed. Put your UV r...

I'm still fighting the homing issue and have an ever-increasing thread on another forum with the developer. I don't want to lead anyone down the wrong path here so when you get to the point if flashing the firmware, give it a go on your own. I'm happy to answer questions but I'd really like to see ...

I just did a quick test on the blue acrylic. At best it filters 50% of the UV that hits it. Orange or amber without UV blockers filter almost 90%, based on my data.

Re: Blocking UV light

If it's going to be a UV DLP kit, IMO it should follow some "best practices" so it's robust (one of them being using UV blocking acrylic). It's not so much an issue printing inside, but if a person takes this to a makerfaire and prints outside or is printing someplace lit by mercury vapor ...

I find that odd as the SF resin is a 'slower' curing resin than the G+, and it uses the same photoinitiator.

Do you have the UV filter at SeeMeCNC? If so, I could stop over after work today and grab it and use my UV meter to see how much UV it filters out on my system.
