Re: mesh calibration issues

Observe your hotend as it probes each point. Do you see the hotend sliding horizontally any? Or does it make a quick tap and moves on to the next one? If you see it sliding, then it's your FSR mount causing the problem. 713Maker makes aluminum mounts for the JohnSL FSRs. This is what I use on mine. ...

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

I had looked for FSR mounts but didn't come up with anything, so I used the three wedges that came with the plate. And I found what was wrong with my "problem child" sensor, I had it mounted too far to one side and not on the center. It might not fix it entirely, but at the very least it's...

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

Things are worse after trying to adjust my FSRs, which makes me wonder how reliable this system is going to be long-term. I'll probably try new FSRs too, but I can see how one corner sticking will end up making things worse than not calibrating at all.

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

And another thing that I've noticed with FSRs using the JohnSL FSR controller is that it does its zeroing at powerup. This means that if you remove parts, or just jostle the bed, you might (will, eventually) end up with false triggers or requiring more force than should be necessary. I've reseated m...

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

I had the same problem. What I do (be it the correct way or not...), is to set my baby steps to .25mm. That's correct for me, yours will certainly be different.

Run yours without filament in the extruder and get it to look just about right, and then add filament.

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

The important thing with the FSRs is that they trigger with about the same amount of force. You can tell if one of your FSRs is "slow triggering" if you observe that either the bed deflects more on that FSR, or that it takes longer for the FSR to trigger after it touches the bed. Do your b...

That doesn't look like a retraction problem to me, try printing the same part again but this time slice it with Cura.

Re: Cant seem to Calibrate it right.

A couple of things, I have the Tricklaser FSR plate too, and I had to fab up supports to get it to "float" without any lateral movement since it doesn't come with any hardware to mount it. So, how do you have it mounted? And do your FSRs respond reasonably close to each other using the sam...

Re: Is my Rostock Max2 possessed by demons?

The dual extrusion system of theirs was in development when I bought mine, so I just have the single. Do yourself a favor and reach out to owners of the dual system to get their settings, and to see how well it is working before buying one. I'm really not sure what constitutes an extruder that *woul...

Re: Is my Rostock Max2 possessed by demons?

Mostly you want the wires exiting the area as quickly as possible. The heater wires crossing the stepper wires shouldn't be a big deal, but any crossings that you make are best done at 90 degree angles. The sleeve idea is a good one (why didn't I think of that?), but I would buy a blank single-sided...

Re: Is my Rostock Max2 possessed by demons?

Oh, and after looking your video a few more times, it looks like the X axis "took a dive" starting the mayhem. Open up the area where your controller is and be sure that your stepper motor wires and your heater wires don't cross over the board. Route them as necessary to avoid EMI from tri...

Go to your G Code terminal and type in "M906" (be sure to capitalize the "M") and hit enter. This will give you your current settings and they will displayed in more or less this format: M906 X1200 Y1200 Z1200 E800 I30 ; Set motor currents (mA) and motor idle factor in per cent B...

Re: Duet Ethernet connectivity problems

It just did the lockup thing again (preceded by the click as it stopped), heaters stayed on, and the platform would not move, nor could I shut down the heaters. I turned off the power to allow me to move the hotend off of the part, but I left the USB plugged in. I googled the problem and DC42 sugges...

So I ran it last night with no problem, however the connection had dropped out by the time that I got home today. Re: Is my Rostock Max2 possessed by demons?

Looking at the video again, it looks like the problem started at the 40 second mark. That's when the stepper motor slipped (that's the noise you hear).

You could try upping the motor currents for X,Y & Z, just make a note of the "before" currents, and don't go crazy.

Re: Duet Ethernet connectivity problems

I leave it on with just USB power while I'm away to see if it fails, and it died again while I was at work. It's had two different Ethernet cables, and either your adapter or my NIC has automatic crossover because I don't have to use a crossover cable (which is nice). It has its own dedicated NIC ca...

Re: Duet Ethernet connectivity problems

It was the board resetting that caused that problem, the next print came out okay. I printed out a part this evening, and other than my Z axis stopping at a weird angle, it was fine. However, I'm back to my board not connecting to Ethernet. I've reformatted the card, and then repartitioned it to a s...
