Re: New Hobbed Bolt

I will check with my coworker on more details. It was cut with a Manual mill and an Indexing tool. He calculated the steps required to go around and then cut a step in the downward direction to allow it to bite into the material.. It's not quite the same as running a tap across the bolt which most h...

New Hobbed Bolt

To counter act the extra pressure and jam phase of PLA my coworker built a new hobbed roller. Ended up engineering it with a directional stepped bite in it to allow it to bite into the material but also self cleans. IMG_1341.JPG So far pressure is consistant as well as the pull through my Bowden fil...

Re: limit switch brackets

Sorry been busy past few days... Just one hole to mount and the other side kinda naturally wedges against the other bolt and nut.. I had to get a 1.5" bolt to cover the extra length..

Re: Printing PLA with the H1, Oh crap...

That's great I like your bracket... I had the same frustration as I am a PLA guy as well.. Mine was out of a couple bolts and a wiring anchor. Although I need to move it to the inside to center the flow more. I kinda get a swirl going which is ok than having one side get a hot spot.

Re: Checking in :)

Would be interesting challenge to make a pinch roller that could feed 2 1.75 filaments into a 3mm ish nozzle. Might get a little striping or custom colors. Hey John set me up for the X and Y belt attachment point challenge so why not ;)

Re: Checking in :)

Thanks for the feed back. Had an instance recently when our work printer broke a part and i printed one at home to fix it. Yikes.. I hate late snow. You could get a marbling effect but requires plastics with different melting points if I recall. They use it for a kinda camo look on some plastic hunt...

Re: Finished My Printer

Feeder is working awesome. There is a friction to length limit. I shortened the tubing until I could pull it evenly by hand as well as push the stock through with no issue. This prevents the pinch rollers from slipping. Mine are mild hobbed originals. Also I like to pull the tubing up about 6 inches...

Re: Finished My Printer

This is my second Printer Build. My First was a Botmill Mendel and let me say after that adventure the H1 is a dream to build. Just do micro adjustments and take your time. Had it assembled in 3 days, Electronics and wiring finished in a month and printing. another month of tweaking to the results s...

Finished My Printer

So after several successful prints and some wire maintenance this is how my printer looks with sample results in PLA. I am sure there will be a little tweak here and there but it's functional and pretty portable. Ramps 1.4 / Arduino controller , Bowden Filament Feeder, X-Horse Platform on Isolating ...
