Not reaching temperature after PID Tune

I just replaced my old hot end with a new one. This is the old-style Max V1 version. After installing it, it seems like it's working fine. I ran the PID Autotune on it and updated the EEPROM but when setting an extruder temperature, the nozzle won't quite reach it. It's stopping, and holding steady,...

Re: HE280 Hotends now on the website

Anyone know if this new hotend will work with the original Rostock Max configured with Trick Laser arms?

Re: Getting the old girl going again

Fan is now working correctly out of HEAT1 so that's good. I got my old, original hot end rebuilt and have a new problem. When first coming on to heat up the extruder, the thermistor is rocketing up to the set temperature, say 190 C, much too quickly and inaccurately. The thermocouple meter shows the...

Re: Getting the old girl going again

Well, she's upgraded to Rep firmware 0.91S with the latest Rep Host, Matter Control and Simplify3D installed. Jim was right, I think I was on 0.83 or 0.85, something like that. Couple new questions have surfaced though that I could use some guidance on. The new PEEK section I got from SeeMe is quite...

Re: Getting the old girl going again

Excellent - thanks for the summary and advice. While I was checking it out over the last couple days, I managed to get the hot end plugged up and then the thermistor popped out of its hole. I took the hot end off but essentially had to disassemble it to get it unclogged. The inner PTFE tube seems to...

Getting the old girl going again

My old V1 has been in storage for a while due to the always popular "life changes." I'm finally pulling her out and getting her cleaned up. I figure I may as well refresh the whole setup. So what's the hot configuration these days? I see Repetier has a 0.92 out there but SeeMe has 0.91 in ...

Re: Print is not complete

There's actually a little hint that the transfer is done, at least on my laptop. The toolbar on the left side of the viewing pane resets. I watch for that and have never had an issue.

I decided to take a chance on this and just bought a license today. Haven't had any chance to look at it yet though. You're right though, the Development presence on the Forum is really lacking - hopefully that's not a precursor to a silent death like KISSslicer. That said, the community seems reaso...

Those wires were shipped with the Rambo, so if you have any Rambo parts stashed anywhere, check those too.

Re: Demon Head

Yeah, I was surprised it actually printed with no support. I printed it at .1mm layer height, so the detail is quite good. I think it will make an impressive display piece for my demo. Here's the link:

Printing this guy from Thingiverse for my demo at work next week. Currently at 97% after 14 hours.

Re: Problems with first (and final) layer

It's dependent to varying degrees on the filament, but I found 60/190 for PLA to be too cold. I'm now printing my PLA at 65C on the bed, and 195-200C (varies by color a little) for the head. Of course, I'm in Vermont where it's cold this time of year so that may also be a factor. I also always use b...

Demo Print

I was asked at work to do a demo for the upcoming Tech Show and Tell day for my local GE site. After poking around a bit internally I found this: http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff275/ToyguyVT/DSCN0790_zps975e851e.jpg I'll use this as my demo print because it's quick and pretty fool-proof, though...

Re: Rostock Max assembly

Also, remember to rotate the plates against each other - there was one position on mine that was a much better match than the others. Once you find the best fit, mark it so you can assemble it that way. That said, I wouldn't obsess over it. As long as they square to the base in all orientations, you...

One of Blu-Bin's free classes was directly responsible for my purchasing the MAX. They're doing a bang-up job of getting 3D printing into the public eye.

Re: So I am looking to buy a printer

Personally, I didn't see any of that as a great improvement over the Max. The under-glass LED may show up if/when the new Max bed comes out but that's extremely minor IMO. More important will be the new design of the heating traces which will help equalize the heat effect across the whole bed. The o...

Re: Home just moves carriage down a bit

No, I didn't need to alter the geometry, at least not yet. Then again, I really haven't pushed the build envelope too hard, though I have done a few large items that turned out fine. The build took me a couple weeks I think, doing an hour or two a night, including some painting which slowed me down....

Re: Home just moves carriage down a bit

Another Vermont Rostock I'd recommend looking up a copy of Geneb's Rostock Assembly manual and going through all the calibration steps there to get Repetier and the Rambo all configured. That's why I did and I have never found it necessary to use any of the LCD commands other than the SD menu and th...

Have you talked to SeeMeCNC about it? Seems a bit early for that to have failed - they might replace it for you.

Re: E3D V4 All metal hotend

I run my MAX with all the doors closed and I've printed for near 14 hours with no issues at all. I may just be lucky and have an exceptionally robust Rambo, but so far, so good. I have been considering sticking a small fan in anyway, but that's a preventative measure for the long term.

Try printing it from the SD Card, without a USB connection in the picture.
