Rostock Max OpenPnp Conversion

For anyone interested, I've published my design for a conversion kit for anyone who wants their Rostock to work part time as a Pick and Place machine. The way I have everything set up, you can have both your hot end and the pnp head plugged into the board at the same time, and just swap them out as ...

Re: It's time for some upgrades... [InMoov]

Hey there! I ended up going with a completely custom solution for the controller boards and software. If you're just getting started in robotics, I'd recommend sticking with the stock recommendations of nervo boards + MyRobotLab. It's a great introduction to robotics, and is the best supported confi...

Re: It's time for some upgrades... [InMoov]

Hey Joe, You're going to love it. It's labor of love, but the project is really alot of fun. The best plan of attack is to first grab the stl files from inmoov.fr. Make sure you get the individual files and not the zip file, as sometimes the zip files aren't updated as often. I'm not aware of any wo...

Re: Gestalt73's Rostock Max

Ok, the the meanwell 2v psu is installed. These things have really loud fans, so I removed the 60mm fan and replaced it with a silenx 90mm over the top after cutting out some aluminum from the cover. It doesn't quite fit, it sticks out the back a bit, but that will be fine. The Meanwell PSU is now s...

Re: Gestalt73's Rostock Max

One thing to watch for is that the use of 0.9deg motors with main power a lot less than 24V may limit your travel speed. Hery dc42, thank you so much for the tip. At present all my moves @100mm/s, although my z-lift is currently higher. I get the ghist of what you're saying, and I'll keep an eye ou...

Re: Gestalt73's Rostock Max

So, in what seems to be an annual tradition, my trusty RostockMaxV1 is ready for another set of upgrades. This time around: - upgrade to DuetWifi (<-- I LOVE this board!) - replace belts - install v3 carriages - 0.9 degree steppers - 16 tooth pulley gears - (re)install FSRs - install Meanwell 12v PS...

Hey AcidShock, Thanks for the kudos! It was great meeting another Rostock enthusiast, and your printer is turning out some great prints now! I was happy to help, to be honest there was only a handful of issues, but your interest in upgrading to the duet wifi really kicked things up a notch. I contin...

Re: BuildTak, GeckoTek, ZebraPlate, FabLam, what are the cool kids using?

Man, I haven't cracked a build plate in years. This stuff really sticks. This happened after sliding that thin tool underneath the print to loosen it. I didn't think I was being very aggressive with it, but I guess it was too much. printing at 250c ABS on a 110c bed. I'm guessing that I need to rais...

Direct Drive E3D Titan?

Thomas Sanladerer has a review of the Titan where he attaches a nema 17 pancake stepper. It's a really compact extruder setup. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tiAQ9slUZ58 (direct youtube embed still doesn't work) I picked one up to play with a direct drive setup on one of my printers. Has any one tr...

Re: BuildTak, GeckoTek, ZebraPlate, FabLam, what are the cool kids using?

Hey mhackney, thanks for "taking one for the team". My next two sheets are arriving tomorrow. What do you think the trick will be to get the adhesive to adhese to the glass plate through the [windex / soapy water]? I'm wondering if you'll have a similar issue if you remove the 3m backing a...

Oooh, Fun! But it looks like I have some frame issues that I didn't even know about. :-/ (EDIT: Thanks to this height map, I dug deeper and discovered that I didn't update the effector plate with 50mm spacing for the magball arms. I just finished installing the upgrades to kosselorange. The carriage...

I don't understand you guys, the place I've linked several times is 1/2 the price, adhesive already on it (yes 3M) and you can get it cut within reason the size you want. Sorry TwoTone, wasn't ignoring you, I see what you're talking about here: http://catalog.cshyde.com/item/3d-printing-materials/u...

Re: Alan's 2550 Kossel Build

After some great success upgrading a client's machine to the Duet Wifi, I ordered a couple more for my machines. This part of the upgrade moves to a meanwill 350-12 with low profile fan and Duet Wifi. With the aftermarket fan, the entire setup is almost silent. The 12v PSU is adjusted up to 14v, and...

Ok, I think I get it. These kits have an adhesive layer and pei layer that's applied separately.

On my next one I'm going to try it. Thanks for the tip!

Re: BuildTak, GeckoTek, ZebraPlate, FabLam, what are the cool kids using?

Well, all I can say is WOW! Orange ABS printed at 260c first layer / 250c layers after on a 90c build plate. I'm thinking I should have done a better job of squeezing out little air bubbles between applying the adhesive and the pei sheet. After removing the first print, there were a few spots where ...

Aw man! I didn't see the round ones! The 12" square ones were easy to cut down into shape after installation, Ima gonna order a few more round ones for the other machines. My first print is about 3/4 done, 11mm high so far, and it appears to be holding much, much better than pva gluestick + abs...

Re: Model to complex to slice?!

KISSlicer takes a few minutes to slice. I ran the file with 250 micron layers, and the resulting gcode file is ~49Mb.

One thing I did notice was that KISS needed around 2.6G of member to complete the slicing. This is a big model. Are you running short on system memory?

Re: Ukulele print getting knocked by hot end

Hey Ramai, I haven't really every seen a single nozzle hotend clip or knock off a print like you're describing. You have z-lift set in your slicer, right? If not, try setting it to 1mm. If for some reason that's not what you want, then it sounds like you're seeing curling at that point in your print...

Re: BuildTak, GeckoTek, ZebraPlate, FabLam, what are the cool kids using?

After hearing all the cool kids rave about PEI, I finally took the plunge and ordered at 12" kit through amazon. I literally just installed it this morning, and after getting z-height figured out, I'm running my first print on it. So far it seems to be a bit picky about first layer height, so I...

Re: Silicone + SSR + 110v AC = Awesomeness?

Hey Tim, Thanks for the post, you've included a wealth of information and feedback. I'm not sure what pwm cycle and frequency is used by the Duet Wifi, but going by the LED it looks to be somewhere in the 20hz range. I'll see if I can find any additional information about that. I didn't even think a...
